PCP Master Installer Field Exams
Required for Master Installer Certification
You know the theory. Now prove the skill. The Master Installer Field Exam is the definitive, hands-on demonstration of your ability to apply SPF roofing or insulation consistently.
This is the final step in achieving the Master Installer Certification. Passing this exam proves to clients and employers that you possess the skills essential for ensuring quality and professionalism on every job site.
Language Options: The Field Examination is conducted in English. However, the Field Exam Form (which details the items on which you will be graded) is available in Spanish for review. Please contact certdirector@sprayfoam.org to request a copy.

Fees
ACTION REQUIRED: All Field Exam fees must be confirmed with the Certification Director prior to scheduling.
What the Fee Covers
The fee ensures we maintain the rigorous standards of the Master Installer certification. It includes:
- A certified, paid Field Examiner for the maximum 4-hour evaluation period.
- All administrative and exam processing fees.
- Issuance of the Master Installer certificate upon passing.
Cost Offset Opportunities
We want to help you get certified. Opportunities to offset a portion of the fee are often available:
- SPFA Annual Convention: Exams held at the SPFA SprayFoam Convention & Expo often offer scholarships (e.g., the Sig Hall Memorial Fund) to reduce fees.

Field Exam Locations
We offer two options to accommodate your team's needs. The Field Exam may take place on a real, live jobsite or in a mock-up setting. See the appropriate Insulation Certification Handbook or Roofing Certification Handbook for complete details.
SPFA offers free field exams at the annual SprayFoam Convention, thanks to the Sig Hall Memorial Fund. You can also find exam opportunities through the PCP Roadshow.
Mock-Up Setting
When Field Examinations are conducted using mock-ups, the candidate shall follow the manufacturer's procedures for installing spray foam.
The Field Exam shall be conducted as if the evaluation were occurring at a construction site.
On The Job-Site
When Field Exams are conducted on the jobsite, make sure that you can demonstrate all the items on the Field Exam Form.
You must ensure the job site supports the demonstration of the items on the Field Exam Form.
Taking the Field Exam
Time Limit
The Field Examination is designed to be a maximum of 4 hours. If extenuating circumstances require extra time, extensions are granted solely at the discretion of the examiner.
Passing Grade
You must achieve a score of 75% or higher to pass.
